The Upkeep of Harmony

by Shane   Jan 28, 2007

I spin at the thought
Oh that this crystal could shatter
In an instant, like a smile

A glass of unspoken sentiment
I have longed for it to spill
But will it break?
In a moment, like a stare

Your eyes have always bridged
My doubt and certainty
Anytime you laughed
I'd fall for you twice
I stand by you, unsuspected
Freely letting you take
Knowing all too well
My numbered days

I've always longed
To be the author of your content
Your smile gauging my own
But I sit idly, only
Hidden by a nom de plume

A suitor that fell out of time
May force my name
Oh i've been comfortable too long
Without my heart in my throat
Will this too, leave me?
In a second, like goodbye?
