Seperate Lives

by Jessica   Jan 30, 2007

He’ll never be the president,
And I’ll never be on TV,
He’ll see Iraq everyday
And wish that it was me.

I’ll never be the first lady,
He’ll never be a leading man,
I won’t be his leading woman,
But we both understand.

Our lives have been set out,
From high school until now,
He was set on being a hero,
But he didn’t know how.

The Marines was his opening,
He passed every single test,
I went to his graduation,
And that began the rest.

Our marriage was postponed,
He was shipped out to sea,
We planned on marrying in 01,
But it didn’t happen until 03.

And now I’m raising Dominic,
Our handsome little boy,
He watches our son grow up in pictures,
And sometimes sends him a toy.

Dominic rarely sees his dad,
But he’s seen me cry myself to sleep,
He understands I miss him,
And that the pain runs deep.

For no one can understand the hurt,
This kind of love is rare,
It doesn’t always stay true,
And it never gets enough care.

But as long as we don’t give up,
We’ll make it until the end,
I’m proud of my Marine,
My husband and my friend.
