Father

by Romancing the Darker Side   Jan 30, 2007

He beats her,
Lies to her,
Cheats her,
Cries about her.

He goes out,
Comes back,
Always shouts,
He's on crack.

Why do I
Live with this?
Again I cry,
It's you I miss.

Not the bad,
Just the great,
Not when you're mad,
Not when you hate.

I've opened up,
Told my story,
Let it erupt,
Into shame, not glory.

They're all proud,
Of their dads,
I never make a sound,
It'll just make you mad.

You don't hurt me,
At least not physically,
It's her I can't stand to see,
With her looking so quizzically.

Why do you hurt us?
Time and time again?
Why is it such us fus,
Can we be friends?

I don't think so,
At least not here,
It's a heavy blow,
And I'll shed a tear.

It's not for you,
At least not your dark side,
But for the truth,
I don't want to hide.

I write this in pain,
As you're out getting high,
You're much to vain,
To let us just lie.
