Alone

by Jon Daniele   Apr 2, 2004

The stars hang brightly in the
obsidian bowl of the heavens,
the imperfections that add to the
beauty of the night. I'm floating freely
between the magical spheres of ether
floating in space because I can't bear
to leave you. I can feel you at my
side, like a cool breeze across my cheek
your love plays through the strings
of my heart so it rises into
a chorus. And then I realize
I'm sitting in a chair outside, and
the cold air is numbing one hand while
the other is burned at the finger tips
from my cigarette. And I'm alone.
