Forgotten

by *unpredictable*   Feb 6, 2007

The eyes of all the people fixed upon the peer,
Watching the horizon as the time of the arrival grew near,
They looked up to wards the sky,
As they prayed and counted down the time,

That speck in the horizon that had seemed so small,
Seemed to be growing larger and would arrive in no time at all,

Little did they know, what was in store,
For that Irish Immigrating ship that was going down for sure,

Down beneath the surface is where that ship was drawn,
Straight down to the bottom went the ship that was to arrive at dawn,

All the lives that were perished, parents and children, too,
Tried their best to hang on, but went down into the blue,

Too bad they didn’t know what the ocean had in mind,
For that ship and all the people who were sadly left inside,

The families bawled, and they wept,
But as for the memories of all who passed on, they will forever be kept.
