Today was an ecstasy, a dream come true
My life changed drastically because God gave me you
A daughter for me to love, a sweet warm embrace
I can't stop the tears as I gaze at your face.

Today you are five, You're growing so fast
And out the door you go, to school at long last
I don't want to share you with the world that I know.
How can you leave me? Oh please don't go

Here you are 16 and driving your car
Don't drive too fast, I don't know where you are
It's a big world out there with dangers you don't know

I just can't believe it, but here you are grown
And leaving my safe shelter with a man of your own
Are you sure that you want this, do you just have to go
I don't want to lose you to a man I don't know

And now you're a wife, living so far away
And I can't be beside you day after day
To help when your heart breaks or life treats you bad
Sometimes I cry when you feel so sad.

What is this? This wondrous sight
It's a beautiful granddaughter, just born in the night

I can just wait and listen to the decisions you make

I want you to be happy, to have a less stressful life
