Before Our Very Eyes

by Psymon   Feb 9, 2007

Can we leave the pretence behind - far away?
Can we live for the moment in this day?
You asked me - why do I like you?
It's like trying to describe a perfect view...
There are so many parts that help make you...
Who you are and - all that you do...

And all the words that we've ever said
Still spin around - inside my head...
Not in a melancholy way - just pleasant smiles
Of the good times we shared - for a while
Thank god that we're still best of friends...
For in that way - nothing ever ends...

Life is slipping away - before our very eyes
We try and fill our days with joyous surprise.

That's not to say that my feelings have changed
And you are welcome to call me deranged
I've learnt to detach - but my love for you stays
Though I have little hope - for those future days...
I don't wish repeat myself - any more
But what is this love - really for?

Love I believe is caring and sharing
Being prepared to be bold and daring...
Rising above the rules that we break...
Recognising who is real and which one is a fake...
Our gods guide us in mysterious ways...
Perhaps we'll know why one of these days...
