I Can't Take You Back This Time

You Said You'd Never Leave me
Obviously that was never true
Cause I'm sitting writing this poem
About the heartache of losing you

You told me you'd love me forever
And that you'd never make me cry
Then one day you turned your back on me
And every promise was a lie

Every kiss you ever placed on my lips
In Now an unbearable memory
Like a loss of a promised warmth
Like a pain i cant set free

You took all i had to give
But gave me nothing in return
Except a lesson of never to love
The hardest lesson ill ever learn

Then so long after you came back
When finally my heart was starting to heal
To tell me that you did love me
That this time it was real

I lied and said i loved you no more
And begged you to go far away
To leave me alone and never come back
To you i had nothing more to say

But the truth in my heart will always be
That you'll have a special place
Sadly ill always love you though
But not with a smile on my face

Ill never let you hurt me again
I learnt my lesson long ago
That you cant be trusted with my heart
Even if you say you've changed though

So forget me as i will forget you
As i let you slowly fade
Out of my heart and my life
Into the final goodbyes that were never made
