Only a Poem (A Means of Expression)

Only a poem
A means of expression
Don't sadden the darkness
Just keep the depression

Leave my locked in my room
With paper and pen
A short trip awaits me
As it does now and then

I gather my thoughts
And think carefully of words
Poetry is expression
And not just for the birds

My poem amounts to something
Something more than I can be
A poem lets one get out there
To set onesself free

After about twenty
Ideas run low
As I search for something more
I take old ideas from very long ago

Only a poem
A means of expression
It only darkens the darker
Makes easier the depression
