Nature (Naturally You)

by XSugarSexSuicideX   Feb 15, 2007

Sitting in English class,
Told to write a poem,
But not about just anything,
No,
This must be about nature.
Nature?
How can I think about nature?
It is my nature to
Think of you.
Naturally.
And yet,
The poem must be written.

The sun sets in your eyes,
Like it rises in the sea,
The moon glows in the sky,
And your face is what I see.
The stars sparkle in your smile,
This is contagious, this is genuine,
Your happiness spreads like poison ivy
Stretches upon my skin.
The blades of grass peek out
From behind the winter snow,
Somehow, the thought of you finds me
Everywhere I happen to go.
When I am not with you,
My life is like the winter sky
When not a single star
Graces its nightly smile.
I miss you like the plants
Miss the warmth of the sun
Or the cool of the rain
Or the new springtime’s fun.
I need you here,
Like I need the earth,
Like I need nature
To show me what I’m worth.
I love you, dear,
Like I love the trees
And the plants and the animals
That have me on my knees.

I finish the poem
And read it aloud,
It seems as though,
Once again,
I have strayed from my topic.
I try to write nature,
But I just think of you,
Naturally, dear,
I just think of you.
