Behind The Lies

by Lydia Tounzen   Feb 20, 2007

No one sees my silent tears,
No one cares to see my shattered soul,

So much hesitation in every step,
So much uncertainty etched into my face,

Always wondering when I'll fall,
Always waiting for the next time I'll fail,

No one sees the truth behind the lies,
No one digs down, to see whats inside,

So much time is spent, to make myself seem happy,
So much effort, when no one will notice anyways,

Always wondering what the point is, in hiding,
And now i know, i don't need to hide,

There's no reason to put the mask on anymore,
So for one last time,
We will survive, one last day.

I really like the last stanza...

"There's no reason to put the mask on anymore,
    So for one last time,
We will survive, one last day. "

Sometimes, I think that people only put on masks just to see who is brave enough to take them off and see the real person trapped inside...
