A Dedication

by Carley   Feb 22, 2007

You were there when I learned to walk
You were there when I learned to talk
You were there to help me to my feet
When I fell down and almost admitted defeat

I love you now more than ever
As I look back on moments that lasted forever
Sandy beaches, waves crash to the shore
You right next to me, I don't have problems anymore

You are the one person I knew would never hurt me
You are the only person I knew would never desert me
You are my best friend, and I love you with all my heart
You helped me so much when my life was falling apart

You see me smile and it means the world to you
You try so hard to make me smile, it's so true
You love my laugh and my childish gaze
When I look at you though I'm truly amazed

I want to thank you for all you've done
You have been there when the devil almost won
But now I'm not to sure how long you'll last
You're happy days seemed to have long passed

And yet that smile still sits on your face
Your so optimistic, and so out of place
But yet I can't help to smile back at you
And think of all the things we've been through

As you lay in that hospital bed tonight
I want you to remember that I still love you with all my might
You helped me stand so tall
Grandpa, you did so when you didn't have to do anything at all

I love you grandpa and I hope you get better fast
I miss your smile, and the memories long passed
I know you're very far away and it might seem like I'm whispering
But I can't help but think you are listening

I love you grandpa, and I just want you to know
Mom dad and Devlin also miss you so
We love you so much and we just want to say
Get better soon and for you I'll pray
