Beat of Your Heart

by megan   Feb 24, 2007

Walking down the rain-splashed street
I open my ears and hear all the sounds around me
Sires blare, horns honk, but still I cant but help
To walk to the beat of your heart

In this insane, up-side down world
There are so many beats to listen to
But it seems like nothing is the same
Without the beat of your heart beside me

The warmth of your body still resides in mine
The soft skin of your arms still wraps me up
The sweet words of your breath still whisper
The essence of you still walks by me

I don't know how you're doing since we've parted
But honey, I'm not doing so well without you
Theres an empty spot beside me where you used to be
The beat of your heart is missing here next to me

So as I wrap up yet another poem dedicated to you
One you'll never read, I realize its pointless
To want you again, because it will never happen
But sometimes I cant help but wait for the chance
