The Things You Taught Me

by Maddie   Mar 1, 2007

No one saw me for me no one saw all I could be
They focused on the bad, never the good
Sometimes I hoped, they thought they should
Then chance led me to you
You held the key to things I couldn't do
Your key unlocked things never shared
Perhaps because I was scared
But you taught me to laugh in the face of fear
And to never again shed a silent tear
You said if you must cry, cry out loud
And if you must scream, scream into the crowd
You told me, never give up on what is right
And never run away from a fight
But the best thing you ever taught me
Was to be unafraid to be
Nothing less than who I am
