A Simple Goodbye

So many people say they are there,
but I know deep down they don't really care,

you say you'll be there if I need you in any way,
but what if the day I need you most is today?

Can you forgive me for the lies I've told?
I know I was stupid but don't yell and scold,

I've hurt you and probably made you cry,
but just don't leave me with a simple goodbye.

It may seem like I've left you on your own,
but know that I'll never leave you alone,

because you may get mad and not want to be my friend,
you may stop caring but I'll care about you till the end,

I may upset you and make you question my worth,
but the whole time I'm just trying to protect my turf,

I know i screw up more often than not,
I hope you can forgive me even if it happens a lot,

you said you would be there for me no matter how bad,
you promised you'd support me whether I was happy or sad,

I know it may not seem like it anymore,
but I'd be lost if you walked out my door,

Because you make me strong when I feel so weak,
get me to talk about my problems when I'm too upset to speak,

give me a shoulder to cry on and a tissue to dry my tears,
you teach me how to laugh in the face of my fears,

You laugh at me when i act like a little kid,
but never call me immature- at least you never did,

So tell me you'll always be there,
but only if you really care,

because I know you've been hurt by me,
probaly in a deep way then I'll ever see,

so forgive me what I may not have said,
something i figured were best left unsaid,

The most important thing i have to say,
Is I love you my friend in every single way.

I know i hurt you and make you cry,
but please don't just leave me with a simple goodbye.
