Promising

by Lyndsay Kalyta   Mar 2, 2007

You said everything you've told me
Has come straight from your heart
And that you hope I can see
How much I make you fall apart

You said you wished for a dance
That belonged only to me and you
And you thanked me for this chance
To fall into a love so true

So tonight you're down on one knee
Because you don't want me to slip away
I'm the woman who makes you complete
And makes miracles come true each day

I smile as tears fall down
And you say "I've fallen in love with you
I can't seem to keep my feet on the ground
And now this is all I want to ever do

You have made me a better man
And I want to be this man for the rest of my life
So, sweetheart, please take my hand
And tell me you'll be my wife"

You slipped a ring onto my hand
As I choked out the words "yes, I will"
My knees went weak and it was hard to stand
And for that moment, time just stood still

You then wrapped your arms around me
And kissed me in your amazing way
You're everything I'll ever need
I can't wait to wake up to you everyday

You said, "I promise to hold you forever
And I'll wipe away all of your pain
Through the years, it will only get better
And, babe, now I know you promise the same"
