The Wise Man

by Joseph Kummet   Mar 3, 2007

Many years ago there lived a wise old man who knew the meaning of life but never wanted to tell anyone.

One day the man was passing by this young couple on the street and they where in tears.

What is the matter? He gently asked the couple.

They answered, we have come to this fork in the road of life and we know not which way to turn.

The man was taken back; here this couple was in tears, together they were trying to take the right path, yet they did not know where either path leads.

The man answered is his kind old voice. There are many paths we can follow on this road of life, sometimes the best thing to do is each take a fork and discover many things alone.
But we love each other the couple replied, how do we know the roads will fork back together?

Who will protect me? Who will comfort me? They asked.

You don't, replied the wise man. Your soul will protect you and comfort you. Then the wise man asked, how do you know the roads should fork back together?

Because we are soul mates they replied in harmony.

Then the man asked; are you in love?

Would you give your life to save the other?

For if you are willing to give your life, then give it now and do not hesitate.

For life is a journey of destiny, and if you let love guide you on your way, how can your love fail?

Many forks will be before each of you everyday, if you close your eyes and choose the path that your heart and soul guides you on, how can destiny fail you?

But we don't want to Part Company, we share everything together, our joys, our sorrows, our successes and our failures. We trust each other with our lives.

Again the man replied, then give your lives now, part ways, discover who you are.

If destiny brings you back together, think of all the things you will be able to share with each other.

Think of how strong the bond will be between the two of you.

For if this happens the two will become one and there will be no one to stand in your way.

Your joys will be multiplied, your souls will join and when you touch, the love will transverse between each other like water flowing in a river which feeds the lake, which feeds the river that feeds the lake.

This is the meaning of life, as I know it, live well, love often, believe in yourself and trust your soul mate and your soul.

Love concurs all and when two souls are mated, their roads will always fork back to each other.

If you believe your love is strong enough to survive the test of time, then do not cry tears of pain and uncertainty, but rather embrace each other, wish each other a safe and happy trip.

Let go and you will know the meaning of life.

For life is love and love is destiny and destiny has a way of making us turn right we want to go left.

Follow your hearts and you will find yourself together again, both much smarter and wiser with the passion for each other of your youth.

Your body will not be young and vibrant but your love will be intense and true for the rest of your lives together.

The couple looked at each other and when they looked back the wise man was gone, you see he too had loved and let go and was continuing on his own journey of destiny to find his soul mate.

For many years earlier he let her go and he felt compelled to continue to wonder the forks in the road, always remembering to close his eyes and let his heart and soul guide him on his way.

The meaning of life is love, happiness and kindness.

Without these three things our heart is not fulfilled.

We tend to do for others in replacement for our own needs and wants, being unselfish and giving tends to cover the sadness we have because our soul mate is not with us.

The circle of life should never end, and the wise should always teach the young the ways of life, but never forcing them to decide which fork to choose. For who are we to say, destiny says you should go here or you should go there, for destiny is predetermined and we should not judge destiny, just follow our hearts for destiny knows ones heart and will always guide it to love, kindness and happiness.
