Racing

by John Bowlby   Mar 5, 2007

Start off slow,
Ten, twenty,
NOX starts to flow,
Speeding plenty.

Up to seventy,
Burning rubber,
Feeling heavenly,
A slight shudder.

Car shifts into gear,
100, 110,
Flame shoots out the rear,
The engine revs again.

Wind shakes the car,
Blows it off course,
Pedal pressed down hard,
For better or for worse.

Finally 150,
Begin to slide,
Car feels shifty,
What a ride!

A loud noise,
Tire's popped,
Hear a voice,
Speedometer stopped.

Lose control,
Start to spin,
Now we roll,
No longer a win.

Windshield smashed,
Glass cuts like a knife,
It was well worth,
The ride of my life.
