Nothing Ends With A Smile

by Kait   Mar 9, 2007

Cradled in each other's arms, they watched the river until the sun began to sink behind a stand of trees.
In his arms, all her troubles, all her fears... faded.
She wished she could stop time and hold these minutes like jewels.
But, she knew it wouldn't last.
Nothing ever works out the way you want it to.
And, no amount of promises could keep them together.
He's such an amazing guy but the time will come to say their final goodbye.
She knows it's going to happen soon.
He thinks it's going to last forever.
But, forever never comes.
Something shouldn't be prolonged if it is not meant to be.
She needs to be honest.
The truth needs to be said.
No more holding it in.
It's finally time to let it all go.
Her world may crash before her eyes but she can no longer lie to herself.
And, he deserved to know that their time together will soon be gone.
Everything they had is over.
Her troubled mind led to their goodbye.
She may never know love again.
Maybe she'll regret letting go of him and she knows that she has to cry.
But, nothing ends with a smile.

I really enjoyed it. I can definitely relate to the poem, knowing something has to end, nothing lasts forever, so deal with the pain and let it go before it gets too hard to. I especially like the line, "But, forever never comes."
    Good read
