Never Returning

by deadbeatromance   Mar 17, 2007

As the wind whispers through the night,
listen and you may hear a story.
A story of a young girl,
who's lover went off to war.
He fought long and hard, a true hero.
But in the end,
he never made it home.
She never believed, when they said he had passed on.
Never cried, for she believed he'd come home.
She sat everyday in the old, wooden chair by the window, waiting for his return.
Years passed and her hair turned gray.
But she still sat in the old, wooden chair by the window,
forever faithful to her never returning soldier.
