Power Over Friendship--YOU CHOSE!

by Poetvoices   Mar 18, 2007

Taking the world hand-in-hand
Standing on top of the world,
but it's not about love, but it's all about love,
and what it means to satisfy the girl.

The sun was slowly setting
on a long, hard battling day,
and camp was set for one, flagging,
but the other ignored and rode away.

No malice settled on his heart
as horse hooves clapped beneath.
Instead his heart broke at the look on the face
of his friend as a tear did NOT roll down his cheek.

Years later, it was hardly forgotten,
and one held the other's life in-grasp.
"I'll spare you and let your people go."
"I won't let you get away with that."

"Go ahead. Slit my throat
like we did to everyone else.
Decapitate me and keep my head
as a prize upon your shelf.

"Finish the betrayal that all started
with letting me come so close
and shutting the door on my eager face
and the power over friendship you chose."
