Off Her Feet

by *Amanda*   Mar 20, 2007

The way you hold me makes me feel strong again,
Like I've finally won all of my battles
All of the bad is over with.
Your kiss is so delicate, but
Overflowing with a passion so sweet
Whenever you reach for my hand, my heart skips a beat. And
Promise me that we'll never lose the silence
That breathes security, and
Promise me that you will always see the good in me,
Some sort of purity, because
This crazy world has tainted my innocence beyond belief, but
Every time I hear your name I get a curious sense of relief.
I have no more high standards to live up to
Because
Just being me is enough for you, and
Whenever things get hard I know
That you'll always be there to see me through, and
I'm not sure why it feels right when we're together, and
I don't know why your hands fit so perfectly with mine but they do...
All I wanted was to be wanted, and then came you.
I never thought that I could go weak in the knees
Or that my lips could quiver but they do and it's real
There's just so much to take in, so much to feel, and
Sometimes I get scared that if I say things out loud that you'll leave, but
The one person you keep on proving wrong, is me.
So please don't dwell on whether or not you're doing it right because
You are
And
Don't worry about me leaving, because
I'm not going very far.
I've found what I've wanted and
It's something I intend to keep
That's what happens
When you knock a girl off her feet.

There is so much passion and vivid detail that it makes the reader feel as though they are there experiencing it with you. However, as the poem goes on the strength of the structure fades.
