Apologies

If I had one wish I would wish to have you back in my life.
My longing for you stabs my heart like a sharp knife.
It's funny how one mistake can cost so much.
I traded in my true love for a few moments of lust.
I cry and cry knowing I've lost all of your trust.
I really love you and want to be with you once more.
You're the only one my heart wants to adore.
If only I could turn back time and make things right.
I think about you both day and night.
Oh how I hurt inside, wanting to call you my own.
Now I'm feeling so empty and alone.
My heart has stopped beating.
These longings I feel for you are defeating.
I sit here and cry as I type these words with care.
I made a huge mistake, of that I'm well aware.
I'm really dying inside not being with you knowing that your love for me was true.
But I guess there's nothing I can say or do to let you know I would never again hurt you in that way.
It hurts to know I made you want to run away.
But I want to end this poem with one more thing to say, I love you and always will love you and the love I feel for you will always stay.
