To Late for Second Chances

by Carly   Mar 23, 2007

If only I could travel back to the day
When you first picked up the blade
I would have snapped the thing in two
Anything just to keep it away from you
But I just stood there catching your tears
Ignoring your screams like you weren't here

You came to me seeking a friend
And look how you wound up in the end
I pushed you away like I didn't care
But really I was secretly scared
Thinking that I would just make things worse
Now you're driving away in the back of a hearse

I'm so sorry that I didn't try to understand
I shoved you back down when you tried to stand
All you wanted was someone by your side
But I only stood over you while cried
I want to say now I know what it's like to be hurt
But now we're separated by six feet of dirt.

If only I travel back to that day
When you first picked up the blade . . .
