Changing a Memory

by Zach Buenger   Mar 24, 2007

All memories have there own riddle
Searching for that certain memory I urgently scribble
I desperately sort through every rhyme and reason
My paper fills up with thoughts of every season

Why do I remember all the insignificant details
But not my life altering fairy tales
Have I erased them out of my mind
Or is possible my brain is going blind

In an instant it all comes back to me
Flowing like rivers to the sea
In an intricate weaving of joy and fear
I quietly shed a tear

For it is at this time that I realize what I have lost
She has left a footprint in my heart that will forever be embossed
My paper floats to the floor
And before it hits the ground I am out the door

Not knowing what I am going to say
I quickly pull my car out of the driveway
Before I knew it I was knocking on her door
Saying that I forgot to do what I had always swore

I notice her eyes are full of tears
Into her glistening eyes I peer
She said there is so much that I could say
But it is about time that you came back this way

I embrace the woman that I will forever love
She fits my hug, like a hand fits a glove
I know that this memory will stay
Because it is the day that she became my fiance
