When I

by ann burke   Mar 26, 2007

When I look around me now
I can see all that I have lost
Where are all my fair-weather friends
who said they would be with me until the end
they can not be found
they seem to have faded in the mist
I am so sorry , that I ever doubted
my one and only true friend
I wouldn't listen when you tried to make
me see
I laugh in your face and walked away
Thinking I knew what was right for me
I taught you were jealous
and just wanted to be me
I made fun of you and made you cry
just so that I could to someone
in my new friends eyes
even after all that I had done to you
you tried so hard to tell me
that they were playing games with me
and what a fool I looked
running around after them
but I just couldn't see
they let me think
I was part of their gang
and I did what I was told
never thinking it was wrong
soon they got bored with me
and went on to play with someone new
