Happy Two Month (Lost At Sea)

by LostLikeTearsInRain   Mar 28, 2007

As you taunt my heart
With an invisible life vest
I reach out and begin to sink
Water slowly begins to compress upon my chest

With arms flailing
I manage to resurface
Only to see a smile spread across your face
I then realize that drowning had been my only purpose

As I stare at you
With my dumbfounded eyes
I smile with you
Because you remain my heart's true prize

Suddenly, your smile disappears
And is replaced with a stare
A stare of pure hatred and deceit
One completely devoid of any care

The taste of salt fills my mouth
I'm not sure if it's the water or my tears
The sky remains a pale shade of black
I await the day it finally clears

That day continues to hide its face
It seems that this is my life for now
I wish you'd stand before me
At least long enough to take a bow

Because you put on quite a show
Hell, you even fooled me
Here I was thinking you were in love
But the truth is what I couldn't see

If you were in love
Do you think you'd have run away?
No, you would have fought
To make things okay

Love doesn't come easy
It's something you have to work for
So when I gave you my heart
How could you let it fall to the floor?

I'm afraid that this day
Will be anything but happy for me
It marks the two month anniversary
To a love lost at sea

(I wrote this yesterday. It was the two month anniversary for my broken relationship with my love...whom I still love very much.)
