The Canary Is Dead

by Vince Gullaci   Mar 29, 2007

Flowers luminous
glowing ominously
in the dark
the fallout
sealed our fate
so much radioactive dust
the particles
blocked out the sun
our beautiful seasons
fused into winter
and left me
nostalgic
for the hoary frosts
of Spring.

    Hi Nyx,
Not so long ago miners took
a canary in a cage with them when
    working deep underground.If the
canary died they knew to get out
quickly for the air was poisonness.
I'm using the canary image as a
    warning sign of coming nuclear
    wars.I enjoyed reading your comment.
    Thank you,
    Vince.
