My Knight

by Brianna Breakkdown   Apr 1, 2007

Clouds are gathering in the sky
Hovering over my heart
Everything living has started to die
Life is being torn apart

The wind etches the air
Transforming sparks to flames
The sun hides, not strong enough to bear
The barriers and the chains

Smoke billows up, up, up over the mountaintops
Choking the air and suffocating the sky
This is where all peace stops
Where my heart begins to cry

Trees collapse in the immense heat
Hitting the ground and crumbling to dust
Stones are cast into the street
The world is red like rust

My eyes sting and burn from the sand
Being lifted from the ground
I cover my face with a bloody hand
As my head spins round and round

My entire body trembles as I'm sucked into the vortex
A swirling tunnel of molten rock
I'm tranced, confused, controlled by a hex
Time is slow, there's no tickety-tock

I'm terrified of this world
This hell forming in my heart
Slowly my body becomes curled
Trying to hold itself from being torn apart

But suddenly the fire ceases, dies in a tiny breeze
The vortex disappears
Gone is the raging wind across my seas
Along with all my fears

Sticky tears escape from my eyes and streak through the dirt on my face
My nails unclench from my skin
I start to walk at a speedy pace
When I hear something as soft as a dropping pin

I spin around in terror
Expecting the absolute worst
But the only thing that begins to stir
Is something that wasn't there at first

My head goes back my eyes gaze above
Into a completely white sky
Slowly snow is falling, quiet as a dove
And I have to wonder why

The cold substance chills my aching, stinging body
Slowly the blood dissolves away
The ground is now white instead of muddy
And soon comes the light of day

There he stands in a suit of armor
A shining, noble knight
His smile is sweet and quite the charmer
And it wipes away the fright

He is slowly walking toward me
And I don't know whether or not to be scared
But with all that had happened recently
I wonder if I really should care

I stand so still I'm statue-like
Trying to disappear, wishing he hadn't noticed me
I am waiting for the thunder to crash, lightning to strike
But it is peaceful as can be

He comes so close that his chest is against mine
And another tear soaks through the sand
An intense chill slithers up my spine
When he wipes it away with a gentle hand

He softly tells me not to be afraid
Not to fear his love
And all the sadness begins to fade
As I accept my gift from above

He smiles at me again and stares into my eyes
Taht are completely free of fear
His lips sweetly caress mine
And he tells the truth, "I love you", directly into my ear

I wonder how I'd ever gotten such an amazing gift
Someone to take care of me
The world is fresh and white after my heart had begun to shift
To where it was meant to be

With a final look into my eyes and a soft kiss on the cheek
He carries me into the falling snow
We float on clouds so soft and sleek
And I begin to forget what was below

My knight, my love, I'm so thankful to you
For rescuing me, my heart
For showing me that love is true
For making my life start

So now I end this with an eternal vow
To you I will always be true
We're forever, here and now
My Knight, I love you.
