It's Time

by .K.i.T.t.Y.   Apr 1, 2007

It's time for a dreadfully beautiful morning,
When the rays reflect upon
Her departing gown,
And the time for the light,
Shines with prominence;
It is time to depart.

Time for her life to branch to the sky
Maybe she'll fall,
Beneath the earth,
Or maybe,
She'll soar through the stars,
That the Gods laid before us.

It's your time to let go,
And hope for the best,
Your little girl is flying your nest,
To find meaning in her life.

You have kept her safe
Kept her strong through all the faults,
So rest easy now,
Dear Mother,
The pain won't last long,
It won't be there at all,
Knowing that I will survive,
Because you were there...

~~~
This is about leaving highschool, and things along those lines.
    I liked this...although I'm slightly confused if there's a death taking place or just moving away from home. Most of the poem suggests death, yet, "Your little girl is flying your nest,
    To find meaning in her life." makes it seem as she's moving away from home at her own will, and happily...
    Anyway, I liked this. The first stanza was my favourite, because the subtle repetition of depart/ing strengthened the message.
    Keep writing!
