Not Much Longer

it's the words i convince myself
to believe you understand that
help let bits of everything go.

it's your passionate eyes that hold
on to me when the words
are at the tip of my tongue and
they can go no where else.

you seem to know my aches,
my every stupid move
yet that stops you not from
utmost unconditional love.

nuzzled against my body
lazy beneath northern stars
you warm my body with yours,
comfort even you won't let go.

running my fingers through
gentle curls of faded red
tears continue to fall
knowing that we cannot stay,

not like this
not much longer.
