Before time runs out...

by Jenn   Apr 5, 2007

Time goes by in a flash
and maybe it's then that you realize all the things you didn't do that you should have done...
it's then that you realize all the things you didn't say that you should have said...
time flies by without you knowing it...
and maybe it's then that you realize all the things you didn't see that you should have seen...
it's then that you realize all the words you ate that you should have said...

your time is up...
seems too fast...too unreal...completely wrong...
but still your time is up...
feels too crass...too surreal...anything but long.

you can scream, you can cry,
let out your shouts, let out your tears,
but nothing will ever replace
what you've had all these years.

as time takes control
of what used to be yours,
you are put on parole
locked behind the doors.

Taken prisoner,
held hostage,
time has no sympathy,
time feels no mercy.

And as you are lead to your cell
about to be put away,
Everything that you didn't do comes flooding right at you...

It's too late now.
