Dad -

Why did you leave me
When I was so young
Did you think of how my life would be
To live without my father

I remember when I was little
I used to watch my friends with their Dad's
I used to think where my Dad was
But Dad, it's you that I never had

You weren't there for my first day of school
To watch me come home and fall asleep
You weren't there for my greeting of first friends
The list just never ends

I remember the day I realized
What happened to you
It was Christmas eve, 1997
Granddad's funeral

You weren't there to hold my hand
You weren't there even before your life came to an end
Why is it that I don't have a memory of you
Perhaps it's because I was only 2

I listen to all these songs
From fathers to their daughters
From daughters to their fathers
I've written you a lot of stuff but you never returned it

No matter what people say
No matter what you did
Sure it matters to me that you weren't there
But I know it couldn't be helped

I just want to see you again
For one last time
I want to hug and kiss you
And sit up on your lap

I want to relive the time
I drank a sip of your beer
I want for you to relive
I just want to see you again xxxxxxxxxxx
