The Things you Never Knew

by Romancing the Darker Side   Apr 9, 2007

He took my heart
And swallowed it, whole
Unlike Fathers are supposed to

He hit his wife
Because he wanted money
Unlike Fathers are supposed to

He stole my plastic safe
And took everything
Unlike Fathers are supposed to

He tipped over the table
Broke a snowglobe, and my heart
Unlike Fathers are supposed to

He shot the cupboard
And told us it was himself
Unlike Fathers are supposed to

I've cried because of him
Because rehab didn't work
Unlike it is supposed to

I think I hate my Father
For all he has done
Unlike daughters are supposed to

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Yes, everything that happened in this poem is true. I'm over most of it. He tries.
