I'm still here

by Katt Baker   Apr 10, 2007

They can't tell me who to be,
cause I'm not what they see,
And the world keeps on sleeping
while I keep on dreaming
And their words are just whispers
and lies I'll never
Believe.

And I want a moment to be real,
wanna touch things I don't feel,
wanna hold on and feel like I belong.
And how can they say I never change?
They're the ones who stay the same.
And I'm the one now,
cause I'm still here.

-This piece of work has a cool drawing that my friend, Mary Ann doodled for me in like, two seconds.

Thank you for you thoughts. I'm actually stuck on another poem at the moment, but when I get done you'll love it.

    Thanks again,

I like the declaration of independence and personal power you set in the poem by proclaiming yourself an individual and the outside influences insignificant. I especially liked line 5, because I think that illustrated that well. I especially liked lines 8 and 9 because they reached out and described a longing, desire to go beyond that insignificance. Good read
