Red Lions

Red lions roaring on his shield
courage of the king painted
proclaiming that of the holder
the knight in shining armor
the knight in shining amor

beheld by all as mighty
king in all the knights
sworn vassal to a man
sitting on his throne
lover to that man's wife

red lions to show his bravery
red lions roaring snarling on his shield
red lions telling the story of a man
braver than all, courage beyond all

so why is it that at night
glistening tears adorn his closed eyes
