Denial Simulated

by Poetvoices   Apr 11, 2007

I read the face, the words.
I read an acient text in translation.
I tell them all no.

I run through the woods, to the end of Earth.
I run to escape truth and everything I should devour and crave.
I stop only when I have no place to go.

I look into your [red] eyes, your [absent] mind.
I look, and I know you see me.
I smile at who we both used to be.

I remember who we were, who we wanted to be.
[then] I remember that face, those words, that text.
I harden my heart and turn my back and change my life forever.
