A Torn Pride

by meagen veirs   Apr 12, 2007

Every night she cries and ties to deny
her tear-filled eye on a face that wonders why?

Why people remain, remain in a state
where they think they need to stain a heart
that is already in so much pain

She has lost her love
as if it was a winter glove

He left, turned his back on her
only because he preferred an amateur

One girl that is more beautiful
and skinnier she had to admit
one with skirts that barely fit

She can't believe how stupid she was
to believe he would put his life on pause

Just so she could go to school
and better herself he promised
but only made her feel like a fool

She will never be the same
never believing any man's game
for she will have so much shame

He made her feel cheap so
all she does is weep until she falls asleep
