For You G.I Blue

by Sheree Speaks   Apr 16, 2007

It's hard to believe that just this morning,
I was making breakfast for you at the house.
And now you're off with the recruiter.
Gone far away somewhere else.

It's hard to believe your stuff is packed up.
Your clothes, books, pictures, your things.
Who knows what it'll be like later,
Or what the future may possibly bring.

I know you'll be changed forever.
A boy to a man right before my eyes.
But I'll still know you're my brother.
I know I'll see it in your eyes.

You'll come back home in your uniform,
Eyes will be so teary like before when we all cried.
But not only will there be relief,
But courage, defiancy and pride.

What a wonderful poem to a soldier. Our military family have difficult situations to face and so many are looked down upon for the choice to fight for the freedom our country has. I loved the message in this poem. You did a wonderful job.
