Finished

by Sheree Speaks   Jan 4, 2009

I know the feeling of drowning,
But it's the breathing that I distress.
Continuously sinking in the dark abyss,
Savoring every breath.

I've felt the feeling of soaring,
Cutting through the water like a knife through butter,
To glide through the swells.
To respire gracefully.

But to choke on water or helplessly gasp for air
Jolts terror through the body like electricity.
The nerves freeze and the body goes numb.
My mechanial muscles manouver in a rythmic pain.

My lungs inflate like a balloon ready to burst,
The extravagant strain becomes more than I can take.
I completely come to a halt at the wall, throbbing.
I know the feeling of finishing first.
