Pencil And Paper

For she was only 17 years old.
Living in a world in which she thought was cold.
She feels trapped and she wants to get out.
And at the same time she doesn't know what life's about.

Loved the rhyming structure on this first stanza. You grabbed my interest with the title, and this opening stanza made me want to know more, want to venture on and figure out what this 17 year old girl is going through. Loved the vividness of it and the way i could relate to the emotions of questioning 'what life is about.'

She has but only one friend.
Shes terrified thats coming to an end.
To her it seems like she has no soul and
On her heart lies a big hole.

Wow.. 100% I could relate to this. Losing your friends who are so dear hurt. It feels like you lose your heart and soul. I would be lying if I didn't say this brought a tear to my eye.

All she wants is someone to save her.
Shes not asking for much just a little favor.
She tells herself she needs to get away for awhile.
Just so she can bring back that thing people don't see much; her smile.

'All she wants is someone to save her." "Shes not asking for much just a little favor." Really powerful! The plea within this stanza is utterly captivating in so many ways. It's come to my mind that so many people don't see the struggles we go through and at times all we need is someone to ask us if we're okay.. You pieced it so well here, the cry for help, the longing for a better place to be.

Nobody sees that inside shes dying.
Scared to tell people her problems so she continues lying.
She doesn't want anyone to know.
So she puts on a big show.

This reminds me of someone very close to me.. Well in my heart anyways.. She puts up a front and is who everyone wants her to be instead of telling people who she REALLY is. This stanza brought my mind straight to her and the pain she must go through. I hope you aren't having to hold that same pain in.. Being someone you are not.

She writes down what she is feeling.
Its her only way of healing.
This pencil and paper is her only hope.
If she didn't have them she wouldn't know how to cope.

Great ending! The way a pencil and paper have an effect on us and how to cope is nothing more than a miracle. You really have so much pain in this poem. Very telling, very powerful.

A truly sombre piece that many can relate to.

Life can be tough at times but remember it doesn't last forever.
