Golden Friendship

by Iain Mackay   Apr 17, 2007

You've understood me,
From start to finish.
No matter if things are better or worse,
I can count on you to cheer me up.

You often ask for advice,
But hey - isn't that what friends are for,
Never to lie or shrug you off.

You are the ear,
I am the voice,
Put both together,
Yes; we are what we want.

To hold you,
To tell you the truth,
To speak about what hinders us both.

I only hope you feel the same,
When I say I need you,
That you need me too.

My head often gets distorted,
images of both past and present,
Plagueing my mind,
Turning into the ultimate dilema.
You reach in,
Offering your hand,
Even as I drown in my sorrows that cannot be found

You are a friend that I'll hold forever through.
No matter where life leads us,
I'll always be with you.

But in the end; yes its true,
Never again will I feel lonely,
knowning that I have a friend like you.
