When I was Young

by Viola   Apr 18, 2007

When I was young it wasn't easy
But I was happy
Happy with anything I got
And I accepted my life
I used to think it would all get good
Like if you prayed
It'll all come true
And I, I never understood
Why they all said
It was so much better to be young
Because to me it seemed like the older
You were the easier it got
As if life just kept getting better
So I, I desperately wanted to grow
I wanted to be like them
I wanted to be older
I thought being a teenager was the best thing
And the most fun time you'll ever have
But now that I'm older
I've figured it out
How this world turn cold
And it breaks through my soul
And I, I finally know what they meant
But no one ever tells you when you're young
That when it's your turn
At attempting to live as a teenager
You find out what it all means
You find out what real pain is
And you find out
How easily your heart breaks
And how fast you fall
How simple it is to loose it all
To change who you are
So you fit into their world
And no one ever tells you
The struggle you have to endure
And how lost you feel at times
And how you wish you could die
No one ever explains
Why some older kids killed themselves
And no one ever says
How your life will change
No one ever says...
But now that I'm older
I've figured it out
How this world turns cold
And it breaks through my soul
And now I know what they meant
When they said
"it's so good to be a kid"
