Just a Girl with a Smile

by dandy   Apr 18, 2007

Sometimes I talk way too much
sometimes I don't talk at all.
I try and help those on their knees
but at times I'm the one who falls.

I'm sarcastic with humor and love to laugh,
a smile on the surface is what I let you see.
So here's some more, it's nice to meet you,
now this is me:

I'm just a girl with secrets
as the tears fill up my eyes.
Just another angry soul
who's trying to survive.

Watching the sun set
on another darkened day.
Pushing the pain away again
as the hurt continues to stay.

I'm just a girl with a smile,
A smile I hope will fool
your unsuspecting minds
into thinking I'm through with this duel.

Trying to continue on
along the judgment road.
Remarks of disappointment
turn my motivation cold.

I'm just another person
wanting to be understood.
If there's a better way to solve this, then try.
I don't think you could.

So before you say you know better,
try walking in my shoes.
It's not so easy to have hope
when your heart keeps getting bruised.

I'm just a girl who's crazy,
who's trying to find her way.
Who won't give up on what she believes
no matter what you say.

So consider what's behind the smile
the next time you judge or jeer.
Even the happiest looking girl
can be fighting back the tears.
