A Moment of Silence

A Moment of Silence
(In dedication of A Day of Silence, April 18, 2007.)

I'm glad in the world, I'm socially free,
But through my eyes, tears are all I see,
I wish so hard this was alright,
Society's a pure, blind sight.

When you twist the keys and hit the gas,
Being one of the whole mass,
Bam, the engine, pulling you in,
I wish for once that we could win.

Love, breathe, live and die,
Hurt, scream, break down, fight,
Why must we be different, when we are all the same?
Why must one small group take all of the blame?

I'm fighting for them, I'm fighting for you,
I'm taking my part so we cannot lose,
I'll stay by you to keep the peace,
Society should be left free.

You're the quiet one, making not one sound,
You're the speaking one, seeming much more loud,
You're the one at home, choosing to stay in,
You're the fighting one who stays so we can win.

Among the loud, we are the quiet,
Rising up in our defiance,
Fighting hard as one alliance,
Listen, here, a moment of silence.

If you're curious, I participated in A Day of Silence. Against my parent's wishes. I did it for equality.
