The Ride

by Travis   Apr 20, 2007

Like a lonesome cowboy on a long trip alone,

I sit and wonder what watches over me as I go,

gives guidance and presence to the things I've known,

defends me, keeps me strong as I grow.

I would say it is an Angel, though not the ones you can't see,

it is the Angel that makes my heart beat ever second of the day,

she lives in this world with me, knowing she exist here for me,

being that little light in all the dark things, letting me know it's ok.

And there in that connection is love deeper then any bloodline,

more pure then any blue sky, bright star or the reddest rose,

more beautiful then any riches or diamonds cut so fine,

and stronger then the currents of all the rivers flow.

So I know now that there is an Angel out there for me,

and I will always be here for her to guide us threw any hell,

as I ride I will hold on to the connection for us to be,

for I trust that we will be strong apart, as we are together as well.

Here is the part where I think of the witty ending to close,

but with life, and love, it goes on forever,

when you look into your Angels eyes you will see,

the rest of you in them, as they see in yours,

and there is no way to measure the distance to how close you are to them, it's forever and never apart.

So ride on, knowing now what it is you are looking for,

and when you find what you know was always there,

right where it has always been, ride no more....alone.

Ride together alone.
