My Melissa

This is actually a lyric, but I thought I'd share it anyway :-)

My Melissa
Copyright Corinne Curcio February 16 2006

Verse1
If I could paint a portrait
Of my lady fair
I'd illustrate and try to re-create
Her beauty, clothed and bare
But I'd never find the right colors
For the rainbow in her soul
Even Renoir would fail, his palette would pale
And brush strokes lose control

Chorus 1
But she's My, My Melissa
What a work of art
My, My Melissa
The Mona Lisa of my heart

Verse 2
She is poetry in motion
And no matter how many times
Words overflow in a stream of flowery prose
She forgives my clumsy rhymes
No I'll never be a William Shakespeare
But allow me to soliloquize
The lady hath charms - I faint into her arms
When I gaze into her eyes

Chorus 2
Cause she's My, My Melissa
Words fail miserably
My, My Melissa
I love her implicitly

Bridge
I could play every instrument in this world
Compose a brilliant symphony
But still not capture the music within her
That plays so wild and free

Chorus 3
She's My, My Melissa
When she sings to me
My, My Melissa
It's the sweetest melody
She's a masterpiece to me
