Taking Flight

by White Valentine   Apr 21, 2007

I like to travel
and to see new horizons.
but more often than not
i fear taking flight.
what if i fall? -
will i sink into the
great big abyss
of nothingness? -
or will someone be there
to catch me?

i have to prepare for
the long flight ahead.
(college - it's like flying to me)
(unchartered territory)
(new people)
(a long adventure)

what if i soar up to the sky
only to hit the cold ground abruptly?
what if i never spread my wings?
what if i never want
to return to the ground?
or what if i can't come down?
what if i get too close to the sun
and it scorches my wings
turning them black?
(black like ash
dark as my heart)
i fear that if i fly too high
i might lose sight of the ground.
