Drunken Monster.

by Sammi   Apr 21, 2007

He said he beat this
I look into his drunken eyes
And see the pains he tries to hide

I pull my sleeve back down
Trying to overlook the past
That I sought to rehash

Dumping out another beer
As my mom slams her bedroom door
Yelling at him not to come back here anymore

He passes out
And I switch off his radio
Cleaning the spilt beer on the floor

Hes gonna get it from her tomorrow
And shell get her stuff and go
Leaving me to deal with him, all on my own

I close my eyes and dream
That hell get the help he needs
Cause this drunken monster

Cannot be my father

There are few things you should know. Lets start off with the reason I first began to self-harm. My dad is an alcoholic. He has been to jail; and gotten into accidents while intoxicated. Hes gone through so much, yet he continues to drink. He doesnt understand how much he hurts my mom and me. But we all have our way to disappear. Mine with cutting and my dads with drinking. He use to only drink on Sundays, but before you knew it, it had become an addiction. And for that one reason alone is why I can understand him better then my mother can. I deal with my own addition everyday, cutting. Just like my dad with drinking.

Great poem. I'm sry you have to deal with that. I had a mom that cheated on my dad multiple time and they finally split up and now I live with my step-mom and dad who are terrific. I hope you find peace one day. Never lose faith in yourself or in God because if you do you'll regret it.
    Good luck to you.
