Carved Into A Tree

by kelly   Apr 28, 2007

I lie in the grass
Next to our tree
Across the trunk it reads:
FOREVER YOU & ME.

My head spins
When I think of you
When I carved that into the tree
I thought it would stay true

But days fade and nights end
And we just keep getting older
The winter turns to spring
And the feeling inside just gets colder

I see you won't come back to me
So I'll just lie here in a peaceful state
Just know I once had love for you
But now I only have hate

I don't want to hate you
But I can't stop the feeling
Ever since you broke my heart
It never started healing

This is quite delightful to read, whereas bitter at the same time. The stanza aforementioned had tugged my heart... a very, very nice piece... believe me, Time will heal those wounds (even though the scars remain). Thanks for sharing. all the best.
